Path of Exile Item Upgrading
The ability to upgrade item s allows players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, boosting its base stats or giving additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player has to have it in their inventory, as well as access to the kiln.
Usually objects with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base while items with strong bases like Eth titans don't change in their stats following being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, providing an added bonus or effect when the equipment is used. They can be purchased from vendors, gathered in loot, dropped by enemies or received as a reward for missions or chests. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.
To upgrade the quality of a weapon or piece armor, the player must select it and then click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade stats will be and also the component or material needed to make that happen.
There are three kinds of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, like gems, can be used on any kind of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that have a type limitation. Infusions are jewels that can only be used in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They offer the same bonuses as jewels, but they cannot be used in other equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, include their name at the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding the word Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades for gathering tools when a player swaps one glyph by another, the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component will damage it, excluding inscriptions which can be freely swapped.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade process is different from previous versions in some fundamental ways. Gear is now categorized in tracks and each item is able to be upgraded so many times before it is "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level, but the required materials aren't as high. This lets players focus their efforts on a couple of essential items and maximize their impact instead of spreading the upgrade costs across multiple items.
This will enable the item to receive new upgrade components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is called the Artisan's Energy. It resets to 0 if the upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it can receive an affix to increase its capabilities. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the item's type. For instance an uncommon or exclusive weapon with a base that is standard will have only two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.
Each upgrade step will require a specific amount of Flightstones or Crests, based on whether the item is at its current level and in what slot it is in. Typically, weapons require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.
If an item fails to reach its maximum level, the NPC grants the player the choice to transfer it to another character and re-infuse the item with a different set of upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours, and costs the same amount of materials. However it has a lower chance of success.
Engineers employ a level to measure the height of the building with an established point, such as the benchmark. This method is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method helps ensure that buildings are constructed to a high level of accuracy and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an essential element of the game that can increase the strength, damage or other attributes. It is possible to do this through the menu for items, or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling items can be expensive and should be handled with care.
The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, which are used to obtain reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or a comparable item. Recyclable items come with an indicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item determines the amount of level filled.
Prior to this, certain upgrades were given priority affixes which made them easier for players to roll. This meant that you would be able to get the stats that were important most to your build often than others. This included stats like the armor's total armour, thorns and the control impaired duration stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and strike chance.

This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for all stats. This can be a great or bad thing depending on your requirements and requirements from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can have a unique bonus that boosts the power of the item by a specific percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are offered in addition to the standard affixes. The more you improve an item, the greater the chance of receiving an exclusive bonus.
The game also has a number set that grants a bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are installed on a unit. This is a good method to give a character a lot more power without spending a ton of money.
Many players opt to reroll their gear and weapons, especially in the beginning of the game. This is because rerolling can offer a quicker path to a powerful character and allows them to climb higher levels and progress in the game much more quickly.
Sets
Sets are groups of elements that can be arranged in various ways. They can be different sizes, have no elements, or have a single element. They can be utilized to organize data or to sort information. They can also be useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways in terms of size and shape.
There are a variety of set items that can be upgraded in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Armor sets that provide the highest defense value or set bonuses are typically worth upgrading. Weapon upgrades are not as effective in boosting stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already huge.
Set items can be upgraded to include unique tools that are suitable for certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are two examples of this. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements were also increased).
Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them up to the same level with their tiers. For instance, the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower-level items can increase their defense and improve their performance when it comes to damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item as well as the required items to upgrade it. It will show the item's attributes, along with the items needed to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, along with 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Alternatively, players can visit the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to find out the requirements for upgrading specific items.
In general, weapons and jewelry offer greater value for trading when fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with spells or glyphs that damage weapons. This will bring about a significant improvement in their performance. The armor that has a new appearance will also benefit from this as its defense value will increase as it goes from purple to gold.
